Secondary Data Center
The purpose of the Disaster Recovery (D/R)/Failover site is to provide continuation of critical information technology services within a reasonable period of time should the primary data center go dark (suffer a disaster) and stay dark beyond an acceptable period of time.
The D/R site will be capable of providing
- redundant infrastructure services, e.g., WWW, DNS, authentication, etc.
- a Failover site for critical application services, e.g., D2L, ISRS, e-mail, Data Warehouse, etc.
Additionally, it will protect the systems enterprise data using controller based (middle ware) and software replication between the primary data center (WBOB) and the D/R Site.
Project Objectives
- To establish a state of preparedness if and when a disaster would make the systems primary data center
inoperable. - As a State Agency, although the system is exempt from several State standard operational regulations, in the spirit of maintaining a relationship with the State of Minnesotas Office of Enterprise Technology, the system will use their hosting service and physical data center space at the Centennial Office Building as the systems physical D/R site.
